WORLD RECORD HOLDER AND WORLD CHAMPION
Liam is an English backstroke swimmer coached by Ben Titley, specialising in the 100m and 50m events.
Liam grew up in Exeter where he began his swimming career at Exeter City Swimming Club. At the tender age of 9, Liam and his brother travelled to Wales to compete as the age levels were different and he was unable to compete locally as the limit was 10 years of age. Liam continued to compete all over the country. In 2003 Liam decided to further his swimming career and progressed to Loughborough University to swim and study sports science.
The pinnacle of Liam’s career so far has been setting a new world 50m backstroke record of 24.08 in the semifinal at the 2009 Rome World Aquatics Championships and the following day he won the gold medal beating again the world record with 24.04.
Out of the pool Liam loves spending time with friends and family, following his football team Exeter City.
Speedo have been proud sponsors of Liam since 2007.
