Biography

WORLD RECORD HOLDER AND WORLD CHAMPION

Liam is an English backstroke swimmer coached by Ben Titley, specialising in the 50m and 100m events.

Liam grew up in Devon and started competing in swimming aged 9, where he began his swimming career at Exeter City Swimming Club.He is a lifelong supporter of Exeter City FC and an Avid Exeter Chiefs fan.

In 2003 Liam decided to further his swimming career and progressed to Loughborough University to swim and study sports science.

The pinnacle of Liam’s career so far has been setting the 50m Backstroke World Record in a time of 24.04 at the 2009 Rome World Aquatics Championships. Liam brke this record twice in the space of 24 hours.
