Biography

Hollie was a swimmer and a runner growing up and only came across Triathlon in 2005. She was immediately hooked on the multi discipline event and it quickly became apparent that she was extremely talented.

2007 was an incredible year for Hollie, winning the European and World Junior titles as well as being crowned Senior National Champion. Hollie was also shortlisted for the BBC Young Sports Personality Of The Year and Sunday Times Young Sports Women of the Year.

Hollie made an immediate impact on the Senior ranks in 2008 coming 3rd, 2nd and 4th in her debut World Cups. This ranked her World Number 1 at just 18 years of age, the youngest ever athlete to podium in successive debut World Cup races whilst still technically a junior. Her 4th place in the Madrid World Cup gained her selection for Beijing (whilst studying for her A levels) and in preparation for the Games she also won the British National Championships. Unfortunately, following illness in the days preceding the race in Beijing she did not finish.

At the 2009 Triathlon World Championships in Australia Hollie dominated her race to be crowned the Under 23 World Champion. Despite a difficult 2010, with illness and injury, Hollie gleaned a new perspective on life which has lead most noticeably to her relocation to Leeds. With a new coaching team and a renewed hunger for the sport, 2011 promises to be an exciting year.
