BRITAIN READY FOR TOUGH GERMAN CHALLENGE

9th February 2010

Following on from the success of the British Gas Duel in the Pool, Britain’s top swimmers have been selected to take on the power of Germany at the British Gas Great Britain v Germany Swim Meet at the Wales National Pool in Swansea.

The British Swimming Team powered by British Gas includes double Olympic Champion Rebecca Adlington, World Champion Liam Tancock and Olympic medallists Jo Jackson and David Davies.

The two day meet, which runs from 20th – 21st February, will be the first time that the swimmers will be back in the pool since the British Gas Duel in the Pool in December and it will provide them with vital race exposure before the British Gas Swimming Championships in March.

German Olympic medallist Britta Steffen, World Champion Paul Beidermann and World silver medallist Benjamin Starke will head up the challenge for the Brits as the two countries battle for pride in the Wales National Pool.

The British Gas Great Britain v Germany Swim Meet will see winners of each race scoring five points, second place three points and one point for third place finishes.

The winning team in the relays will receive seven points and the nation with the most points will be crowned victors of the inaugural event.
